Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has commented on the decision of Luis Enrique, coach of the Spanish national team, to exclude him from the final list of La Roja, which will participate in the Euro 2020 finals this summer.
Ramos said, during a message posted on his personal account on “Twitter”: “After a few difficult months, and a strange season, unlike any season I lived in my career, the euro comes.”
He added: “I have fought and worked daily, physically and mentally, to be able to reach my full readiness for Real Madrid and the national team, but things do not always go the way we wish.”
He continued: “It hurts me not to be able to help my team, and not to play for Spain, but in this case the best thing to do is rest and recover completely and come back next year, although it is painful not to represent my country.”
He concluded: “In all honesty and sincerity, I wish all of my team-mates all the best of luck, and I hope that we will appear in a wonderful way, and I will be a fan of the team from home. Thank you to everyone. Long live Spain and Hala Madrid.”
